My grandmainaustralia (my name for her, it’s all one word), Margaret Moir was an amazing woman who lived a full and rewarding life and left behind a family that loves her very much. Among her many accomplishments was serving in the Australian Women’s Land Army during WWII. She recently passed away, and my sister (another amazing woman–love ya sis!) gave me the great idea of making a WCMT in Grandmainaustralia’s honor and donating all proceeds to charity to benefit Australian war widows and orphans through Legacy.
I have the wrap–it’s a Didymos Linen/Cotton Red Vogels size 7. This wrap was sourced by Sustain.able Sprout and the funds for it were donated by a super cool group of aussie mums. The same group of aussies gave me an Australian hand printed linen panel to use for this project, it’s very special and perfect for this WCMT as a hood panel, or incorporated as a storage bag.

This is an auction, and you can bid by leaving a comment in this blog post. The auction will end Sunday night 6/17, at 9 pm eastern time. The highest bidder can checkout through obimama.com, at which point they can specify strap length, tie waist or buckle, body size, and features. Due to time constraints an applique is not an option for this WCMT. Good luck, and thank you!

This is a wonderful idea Maureen and Jennifer – Grandma was very proud of you both, and saw you as women of substance! I miss Mum every day. I know she would have really approved of funds going to Legacy, a wonderful organisation that looks after our families affected by loss in war. Her brother-in-law, Arthur Vinson, (died 4 December 2012) had served in the Australian Army in WWII and was an official ‘Legacy Visitor’ who, for many many years, regularly visited the women and children of those men who died in war.

Mum would be so happy to know about this project. What a wonderful memorial in her name, and thank you, both my wonderful daughters, for suggesting, planning and executing this unique idea!
She was a real rare character, a woman who made do with almost nothing, and managed to leave a “legacy” for her family through her diligence and strong character. You both do her memory proud – I see her in both of you.
Your mother.
